Contact: Laura James-Reim Educators to learn to use out-of-doors as the road to better readers A child’s natural love of the out-of-doors is now being used as a way to help make them better readers. The DNR's Natural Resources Education Center is offering a workshop for elementary educators April 15. The eight-hour workshop will provide participants with hands-on experiences and research-based information about the use of the out-of-doors to create better readers. Attendees will be:
The workshop will be 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 15 at the Gene Stratton-Porter State Historical Site in Rome City, Ind. Registration for the day will begin at 8:30 a.m. Participants will need to bring their own lunch. Registration prior to the workshop is required and must be received by the DNR before April 1. A $10 fee for the workshop must accompany the registration to guarantee enrollment. Credit cards will be accepted for payment.
