Coastal Zone Status Decision Application from Alma
Available for Review
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control invites the
public to review an application for a Coastal Zone Act status decision from
Alma LLC of New Castle to establish a 5-10 acre bulk product transfer
operation at 601 Christiana Avenue, Wilmington, Del.
Alma proposes to use the transfer operation to move construction and
demolition debris from a docking facility on to barges and move the material
out of state for recycling or disposal. According to Alma’s application, no
manufacturing will take place and no hazardous waste will be managed or
disposed of at this site. The barges will be loaded by crane or conveyor
belt.
Environmental impacts appear to consist of air emissions from a diesel
engine and some dust.
The application is available for public review at DNREC’s offices at 89
Kings Highway in Dover and 715 Grantham Lane south of New Castle, the
Hockessin Public Library, the Wilmington Public Library and the Delaware
City Public Library.
Comments concerning the application should be sent to: DNREC, 89 Kings
Highway, Dover, DE 19901, attention Dennis Brown, by close of business (4:30
p.m.) Monday, March 28.
