IDAHO FISH AND GAME
HEADQUARTERS NEWS RELEASE Boise, ID
Big Game Rules To Be Set In Commission Meeting Big game seasons for this fall will be set when the Idaho Fish and Game Commission meets in Boise March 21-23. The meeting will begin with a workshop at 1 p.m. March 21 in the Trophy Room at Fish and Game headquarters at 600 South Walnut in Boise. Commissioners will hear updates on wolf management, ungulate research and budget. A public hearing is set for 7 p.m. in the same location. On March 22, the setting of seasons for deer, elk, antelope, bear and mountain lion hunting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. One of the notable changes for hunting big game this fall is the expected adoption of a white-tailed deer tag in addition to the general deer tag. White-tailed deer are now managed separately under a new management plan adopted earlier this year. The Commission will also act on proposals for a spring chinook salmon season. Other subjects the Commission will hear include a preference point system for controlled hunt drawings, an update on the Mule Deer Initiative and the effects of highways on deer.
