Fly Tying and Fly Fishing Classes Lure Kids to Salato

Frankfort, KY (March 10, 2004) - Members of Trout Unlimited have scheduled skill workshops on fly tying and fly fishing at the Salato Wildlife Education Center in Frankfort designed to catch the interest of young anglers.

On Sunday, March 20, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, the First Cast workshop will introduce boys and girls ages 10 - 16 to the basics of tying the flies proven effective on local waters. All materials are provided and kids may keep the flies they craft. That afternoon from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., Basics of Fly Fishing, open to kids ages 5 through 16, will teach proper technique for casting and fly presentation at the Game Farm Lakes. Bring your own rod or use loaner rigs on hand.

Each course welcomes 10 participants at a cost of $20 per course, per student or both for $30. Registration and pre-payment are required. For more information call 1-800-852-0492 ext. 409.

Hours of operation: Tuesday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The Center is closed Mondays and state holidays.
