What: Maine Warden Service 2004 Awards Ceremony, Celebrating 125 Years of Service Where: Black Bear Inn and Conference Center From Interstate 95. Take Exit 193 (Stillwater Old Town Exit) and travel toward Orono. The first road on the right is Godfrey. The Best Western Black Bear Inn & Conference Center is 300 yards past the gas station. When: 1:00 -- 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2005. The ceremony begins at 1:00 with a moment of silence and the reading of the names of 14 game wardens killed in the line of duty. After opening remarks by Colonel Tom Santaguida, Commissioner Roland D. Martin will speak as well as guest speakers Secretary of State Matt Dunlap and Congressman Michael Michaud. The awards ceremony will begin at 1:15. All awards to follow. The Warden of the Year Award should be presented sometime between 2:30 and 3:30. Focus: This year marks the 125th anniversary of the Maine Warden Service and this year's award ceremony will honor the 125th anniversary. The Maine Game Warden of the Year is the most prestigious award in the Maine Warden Service. Other awards to be presented include the Meritorious Service Award, Legendary Game Warden (recipient is a retired warden), Exemplary Service Award, The Colonel's Award and Distinguished Supervisor Award. Nearly every Game Warden in the state will be at the banquet.A short bio of each award winner will be available at the ceremony to members of the media. Our keynote speaker this year will be the Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap and our Guest of Honor will be Congressman Michael Michaud. -30-
