COMMISSIONERS TO SET ANTELOPE, DEER AND ELK SEASONS MARCH 11 - Tom

Lincoln, Neb. -- The Nebraska Game and Parks Commissioners will set dates
and regulations for the 2005 antelope, deer and elk hunting seasons, select
the winner of the 2005 Habitat Stamp Art Contest, and tackle a host of other
issues at a March 11 meeting in Lincoln.
Two public hearings have been scheduled for the meeting. The first, to
consider amendments to wildlife regulations concerning the use of
appropriate weapons at DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge, will begin at 8:15
a.m. The second public hearing, to adopt regulations for the 2005 antelope,
deer and elk hunting seasons, will begin at 8:30 a.m.
The commissioners will also take action on a number of other issues,
including:
– a recommendation to hold a public hearing at the next meeting to consider
amending the list of wildlife allowed to be imported, exported, released or
commercialized;
– a recommendation to hold a public hearing at the next meeting regarding
areas open to hunting at Clear Creek Wildlife Management Area;
– a recommendation to hold a public hearing at the next meeting to consider
amending regulations at Randall W. Schilling Wildlife Management Area
concerning public access, controlled waterfowl hunting and general hunting
regulations;
– a recommendation to hold a public hearing at the next meeting to amend
regulations at Branched Oak Wildlife Management Area, Conestoga State
Recreation Area and Twin Lakes Wildlife Management Area concerning refuge
designations, hunting seasons and the prohibition on dark goose hunting;
– a recommendation to hold a public hearing at the next meeting to consider
amendments concerning the hunting season and controlled access into Gifford
Point Wildlife Management Area;
– a recommendation to hold a public hearing at the next meeting to amend
state park regulations concerning fees for annual and duplicate annual park
entry permits, and regulations governing the driving of livestock on state
recreational trails rights-of-way;
– a recommendation regarding a resolution to convey title of a .34-acre
tract of land at Blue Hole Wildlife Management Area to the Department of
Roads;
– a recommendation to acquire a 160-acre tract of wildlife land in Holt
County;
– a recommendation to acquire a 100-acre tract of wildlife land in Nemaha
County.
