ROCK - Turkey hunting season this spring will begin on April 2 for
Arkansas hunters in zone 17. The spring turkey season will close in most
zones on May 6.
Spring turkey zones 1, 2, 3, 4B, 5, 5B, 6, 7, 7A, 8, 9 and 10 will be
open April 9-May 6 and spring turkey zones 1A, 4, 4A, 5A and 9A will be
open April 9-22. Spring turkey zone 17 will be the earliest to open with
a season of April 2-29.
Statewide, the spring season bag limit is two bearded turkeys. Hunters
may hunt in different zones or WMAs as long as they comply with zone or
WMA restrictions, while not exceeding the statewide bag limit of two.
No more than two legal turkeys may be taken in zones 1, 2, 3, 4B, 5, 5B,
6, 7, 7A, 8, 9, 10 and 17, and no more than one legal turkey may be
taken in zones 1A, 4, 4A, 5A and 9A. No more than one turkey may be
taken per day and no more than one jake may be taken during the spring
season, including the special youth hunt.
The special youth turkey hunt will be April 2-3 and is open to youths
under 16 in zones 1, 1A, 2, 3, 4, 4A, 4B, 5, 5A, 5B, 6, 7, 7A, 8, 9, 9A
and 10, and March 26-27 for zone 17. An adult mentor who is 18 or older
must accompany youths who have completed a hunter education course.
Youths who have not completed a hunter education course must be under
the direct supervision of an adult mentor who is 21 or older. The
statewide bag limit of two turkeys (no more than one jake) and zone bag
