Wildlife Agency Donates Body Armor

JACKSON- The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) donated approximately 200 body armor vests to the Mississippi Sheriffs Association today, according to the MDWFP.

Representatives from five counties were on hand to receive the vests. Sheriffs Buddy East (Lafayette County), Carlos Herring (Perry County), James Newman (Franklin County), Ronnie Pennington (Rankin County), and Willie March (Holmes County) took the vests back to their respective counties where they will begin distributing them to other sheriffs’ departments in their areas that are in need of body armor.

“We are proud to have such a great working relationship with our county sheriffs,” MDWFP Executive Director Dr. Sam Polles said. “It would be far more difficult to perform our law enforcement duties without their cooperation.”

“We also value our working relationship,” Newman said.
