February 23, 2005 State Park Will Host Pro Disc Golf Tourney JACKSON –Wall Doxey State Park will host the McDonald 2005 Southern National Professional Disc Golf Championships, according to the Dept. of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. Located about seven miles south of Holly Springs, Wall Doxey Park will host the disc golf event Sept. 2-5, 2005, which is Labor Day weekend. "We now have the task of putting on one of the most memorable events in the history of the Southern National," Parks Director Glenn Ray Harris said. According to Harris, the event should bring upwards of several hundred professional disc golf players from 10 states to the Magnolia State. "The staff at Wall Doxey Park and the community are very excited about being the host site for this event," Harris said. The Southern National Professional Disc Golf Association is made up Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Georgia,Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas. Oklahoma and Arizona also hold qualifying events for players. -30-
