SPRING TURKEY HUNTING SEMINAR APRIL 2
Enrollment deadline March 16

PRATT — On April 2, the Flint Hills Gobblers Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) Hunter Education Program will co-sponsor a turkey hunting seminar at Camp Alexander, near Emporia. This is the fourth year for the seminar, which is open to anyone interested in learning how to become a better turkey hunter.

Young hunters are especially encouraged to attend. The spring of 2005 special youth turkey season, April 8-10, will follow on the heels of this event, and the regular spring turkey season begins April 13.

Participants will receive tips and other expert turkey hunting advice provided by Mike Randolph of Hunter Specialties. Bluestem Farm & Ranch representatives will be on hand with all the latest turkey hunting equipment available at their store. They also will sponsor a drawing for a fully-equipped turkey hunting vest.

In addition to learning all the tricks to bag a bird, lunch and free T-shirts will be provided. The seminar will consist of several educational sections dealing with all aspects of becoming a successful turkey hunter, including the following:

 turkey calling and locator calling;
• scouting/roosting;
• wild turkey biology and management;
• shotgun hunting for turkeys;
• bowhunting for turkeys;
• turkey hunting equipment; and
• turkey  hunting safety.

Participants should enroll by March 16. For more information and to enroll in the seminar, phone Jared McJunkin at 620-340-3219 or email gobblergettr@yahoo.com before March 16.
