RELEASE February 16, 2005
CHICAGO, IL - Illinois artisans are invited to submit applications for the Illinois Artisans Program. Begun in 1985, the program promotes the work of artisans living in Illinois through exhibitions and activities. “This is a marvelous opportunity for artists to reach new clients,” said Joel Brunsvold, Director of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. “At the same time, visitors to the galleries are invariably impressed by the quality and diversity of artwork created by Illinois artisans.” All areas of original art and craft are eligible including folk, traditional, contemporary, ethnic and fine art forms. Artists are required to submit a Program application, 6-10 slides, an artist’s statement and one-page resume, a SASE and a $20 application fee. An application is required. Deadline for submission is March 28, 2005. Artists selected will be notified by letter in April, 2005. Once accepted into the program artists may take advantage of opportunities to showcase and sell their work in one or more of the four stores located throughout Illinois. FOR MORE
