Advisory Council on Tidal Finfisheries to Meet Feb. 17 in Dover

The Advisory Council on Tidal Finfisheries will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control auditorium, Richardson and Robbins Building, 89 Kings Highway, Dover.

The agenda will begin with an introduction and approval of minutes and continue with the following items:

• Discussion of issues with gill net licenses and striped bass tags for five New Jersey residents and council recommendation

• Suggested council action on the issue of late finfish catch reports

• Explanation of allowable size limits for striped bass in Indian River & Rehoboth Bay

• Status report on new regulations

a. Commercial striped bass season extensions
b. Circle hook requirement on striped bass spawning grounds
c. Snakehead ban
d. Possession limit for river herring recreational harvesters

• Briefing on potential threat from Maryland’s proposed Asian oyster introduction

• Agenda items for next meeting and meeting date
