LITTLE
ROCK - W.E. Brewer/Scatter Creek Wildlife Management Area in Greene
County in northeast Arkansas has grown by bits and pieces over the past
20 years.
Two more tracts were added to the popular upland wildlife area by the
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission at its January meeting.
A
32-acre tract is being bought for $47,000 from
Michelle's Excavating, Inc.
and an in-holding of an acre and a half is being bought for $3,315 from
Greene County Wildlife Club.
The purchases will be helped by money from federal Pitman-Robertson Act
funds administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This is excise
taxes on equipment paid by hunters and shooters and pays 75 percent of
approved projects, with the state furnishing the other 25 percent.
The management area
has been helped for years by the Greene County Wildlife Club, and it
bears the name of former AGFC Commissioner William E. "Bill" Brewer, a
Paragould banker and businessman.
