PINELLAS COUNTY SHERIFF DEPUTY CHARGED WITH BUI February 7, 2005 A Pinellas County Sheriff Deputy was arrested early this morning on Boating Under the Influence (BUI) charges by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Paul D. Brock, D.O.B. 05/02/63 was operating a 2003 28-foot Baha runabout shortly after mid-night on Feb. 7, when the vessel struck a series of docks. The FWC was called to the scene by St. Petersburg Beach Police officers after they had searched for anyone that may have been thrown overboard. No persons were found in the water. Approximately thirteen people were on board, and were treated and released at the scene with no major injuries. The accident occurred near the St. Pete Yacht and Tennis Condominiums in St. Petersburg Beach. Brock refused to submit to a breathalyzer test which carries a civil penalty of $500. BUI is a first-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to $1,000 fine and/or one year in jail. The accident occurred in a minimum wake zone and is under investigation. GRM/CR
