Cunningham Falls
State Park Hosts 35th Annual Maple Syrup Making Demonstration
THURMONT — Do you know how they make that wonderful maple syrup you use
to drown your pancakes? The staff at Cunningham Falls State Park
does and will be teaching Marylanders how it’s done at the 35th
Annual Maple Syrup Making Demonstration, March 12, 13, 19 and 20 from 10
a.m. until 2 p.m. in the William Houck (Lake) Area.
Park Staff will demonstrate the process of making maple syrup, from
tree tapping through boiling and packaging. Informative talks will explain
the history and current status of one of America’s first agricultural
products. There will also be activities and stories for children. A sign
language interpreter will be available on March 13 and 20.
Musical entertainment will be provided by two local Bluegrass bands.
“The Orchard Boys” will be playing on March 12 and 13 from 10:30 a.m.
until 1 p.m., while the band “Hangfire” will be performing on March 19 and
20 from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
