ROADS CLOSED ON GRASSY LAKE W.M.A.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has announced the closure of several roads on the Grassy Lake Wildlife Management Area in Avoyelles Parish. Due to the rising floodwaters of the Mississippi River, the following roads are now closed: Murphey’s Ditch Crossing, Bayou de Sot Bridge and Cas Cas Road. It is anticipated that additional closures in the area may become necessary.
The river is approximately three feet above flood stage at the current time and is expected to rise another foot by January 31. The river should start to make a slow fall at that point, provided the area does not receive any additional rain. Roads will be reopened when department officials deem them safe.
