LOUISIANA WILDLIFE AND FISHERIES COMMISSION LOSES MEMBER
1/28/2005
Dr. Jerry Stone, a member of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission
since 2000, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, January 26. His wife,
three daughters, one son and 12 grandchildren survive him.
Dr. Stone was appointed to the commission in January of 2000, by
then-Governor Mike Foster. An avid hunter and fisherman, Dr. Stone also
served as chairman of the commission in 2001. As a member of the commission
he expressed a desire to conserve the states natural resources saying,
"Hunting and fishing are two of our best ambassadors to the world, therefore
the resource must be protected and preserved using a reasonable and honest
approach."
"Outdoorsmen across the state have lost a life-long supporter of our
conservation efforts," said Secretary Dwight Landreneau of the Louisiana
Department of Wildlife and Fisheries. "His voice on the commission will be
missed."
