DNR To Hold Family
Fly Tying Clinic At Thorpewood
THURMONT— The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is pleased
to offer a Family Fly Tying clinic on SATURDAY, MARCH 5, FROM 9 A.M. TO
NOON at ThorpeWood environmental education center located at 12805-A Mink
Farm Road in Thurmont.
This beginner fly tying clinic is being offered just in time for a new
fishing season! The entire family is encouraged to learn about and enjoy
the art of fly tying. The clinic begins with an ecology talk and then
moves into how to identify aquatic insects to see what the fish are
eating. Finally, participants will learn how to determine the degree of
water quality. Hands-on experience will be a part of the clinic and fly
tying kits will be provided by DNR so that participants can practice basic
skills and tie artificial flies to take home. No prior experience
necessary.
Pre-registration is required and the cost is $5 for members and $10 for
non-members. For more information and to register, call ThorpeWood at
301-271-2823.
