Family Fly Tying
Clinic At Anita C. Leight Estuary Center
Abingdon— The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is pleased
to offer a Family Fly Tying clinic on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 26, FROM 9 A.M.
TO NOON at Anita C Leight Estuary Center located at 700 Otter Point Road
in Abingdon.
This beginner fly tying clinic is being offered just in time for a new
fishing season! The entire family is encouraged to attend to learn about
and enjoy the art of fly tying. To begin the clinic, DNR staff member Jim
Thompson will talk about local fish passages and then move into how to
identify aquatic insects to see what the fish are eating. Finally,
participants will learn how to determine the degree of water quality.
Hands-on experience will be a part of the clinic and fly tying kits will
be provided by DNR so that participants can practice basic skills and tie
artificial flies to take home. No prior experience necessary.
Pre-registration is required and the cost is $5. For more information
and to register, call the Center 410-612-1688.
