2005 spring turkey hunt winner notifications available (2005-01-25)

Successful applicants for 2005 spring wild turkey hunting licenses have been posted on the DNR Web site at www.dnr.state.mn.us.

Written notification will arrive soon by mail.

Hunters who are notified they received a permit can purchase their licenses at any Electronic Licensing System license agent beginning March 1, which is the beginning of the 2005 license year. Licenses and wild turkey stamps must be purchased by the start of a person's hunting season.

All persons, age 18 or over, who wish to hunt wild turkeys must purchase a turkey stamp or stamp validation to legally hunt. There are six five-day seasons and two seven-day seasons.

The first season begins April 15 with the final one ending May 27.

To check results on the DNR Web site, hunters will need to have their driver's license number, Minnesota DNR number, or state ID number.

Hunters without Internet access who did not receive mail notification can obtain lottery results by calling the DNR Information Center at (651) 296-6157 or toll free 1-888-MINNDNR (646-6367).

Those not selected in the lottery may purchase a surplus permit beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday, March 14. There will be 1,944 surplus licenses available this year. Only applicants who applied for the permit lottery, but who were not successful, are eligible for a surplus permit.

Details about the numbers and locations of surplus permits and how to obtain them will be posted on the DNR Web site by March 1.
