YOUTH RACCOON HUNT SET JAN. 15 IN BOWMAN

Staff from the S.C. Department of Natural Resources along with the S.C. State Coonhunters Association and the Orangeburg Coonhunters Association will be conducting their annual youth raccoon hunt and bench show in Bowman on Saturday, Jan. 15.

The hunt and bench show will include two age groups (ages 6-13) and (ages 14-17). Door prizes will be given away. Each youth is also required to bring a guardian. The hunt is a field trial type event in which no raccoons are harvested. Emphasis will be placed on sportsmanship and the outdoor experience.

Interested participants should contact the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in Columbia by Wednesday, Jan. 12 to register. Register by calling the DNR Columbia office at (803) 734-3887 Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Applications may also be obtained by calling Elliott Shuler at (803) 496-3862.
