Controlled Antlerless Deer Hunt Set for Judge Morris
Estate in White Clay Creek State Park
The Judge Morris Estate section of White Clay Creek State Park in
northern New Castle County will be closed to the general public on
Wednesday, Jan. 12 and Thursday, Jan. 13, for a special controlled
antlerless deer hunt managed by the Delaware Division of Parks and
Recreation.
The hunt will be conducted from deer stands and will encompass just the
Judge Morris Estate Area for these two days ONLY. This hunt is in addition
to the regularly scheduled statewide January shotgun season that will begin
Jan. 15 and run through Jan. 22 throughout White Clay Creek State Park.
The goal of the hunt is to reduce the area’s herd to a more manageable
number. In a recent managed hunt on the Carpenter section of the park, 40
antlerless deer were harvested.
For more information on the management hunt, call Rob Line, Natural Areas
Program Manager, at 302-739-3423 off., or 302-388-4485 cell, or the White
Clay Creek State Park office at 302-368-6900.
