Game and Parks Postpones Meeting Due to Severe Weather

LINCOLN, Neb. – Due to severe weather and hazardous road conditions, the
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has postponed its Jan. 7 meeting in
Sidney and rescheduled it to Thursday, Jan. 20 in Sidney, Commission
Chairman Marvin Westcott of Holdrege announced today.
“In light of the severe winter weather throughout the state and extremely
dangerous road conditions, it is most important that we place the highest
consideration on public safety,” Westcott said. “I apologize for any
inconveniences this postponement creates, and I hope those who are
interested in the issues to be discussed at the meeting will continue to
participate.”
Among the items that will be under consideration at the meeting, to be held
at Cabela’s, are:
-A public hearing at 8:15 a.m. to consider changes to the application
process and dates for turkey and big game permits for the 2005 seasons.
- A public hearing at 8:30 a.m. to consider season-opening dates for small
game and fall turkey seasons.
- A public hearing at 8:45 a.m. to consider regulations pertaining to
captive wildlife, game breeding and controlled shooting areas.
- A public hearing at 9 a.m. to consider regulations pertaining to the
administration and use of property under public agreements for Vencil’s
Island, located in Sarpy County, and for Mitchell Valley in Scotts Bluff
County.
