IDAHO FISH AND GAME
MAGIC VALLEY REGION NEWS RELEASE Jerome, ID
Idaho Fish & Game Seeks Sportsmen's Suggestions JEROME - Big game hunts for deer, elk, and antelope are just ending, but the Idaho Department of Fish and Game is beginning to plan next year's hunting seasons. After collecting harvest reports and conducting big game population surveys, biologists will be ready to start formulating season proposals. The only key item missing is knowing what the sportsmen want. "What we are looking for are general issues and ideas from sportsmen to help plan next year's seasons," said Randy Smith, Idaho Fish and Game Wildlife Manger for the Magic Valley Region. "We are currently in the idea stage. If sportsmen have any issues regarding big game seasons or management they would like to see addressed it's time to speak up." The Idaho Fish and Game is taking written comments from sportsmen until the end of January. Information submitted will be combined with all of the biological data to help biologists design strategies to reach management goals. In mid February sportsmen will then be asked to comment on season proposals and options at big game open house meetings in Twin Falls, Burley, and Hailey. Information from those meetings will then be passed along to Idaho Fish and Game Commissioners who will then make the final decisions. People wanting to submit ideas for changes should address their letters to Randy Smith, Idaho Department of Fish and Game, P.O. Box 428, Jerome ID 83338. For more information, call 324-4359.
