Alaska Board of Fisheries Announces Public Hearing in Soldotna


(Juneau) - The Alaska Board of Fisheries (Board) will hold a public hearing in Soldotna January 14 and 15, at the Soldotna Sports Center Conference Room, 538 Arena Drive, beginning at 1:30 p.m. on January 14, and continuing January 15 beginning at 8:30 a.m. The purpose of the hearing is to gather information and public comments concerning proposals and issues to be addressed by the Board at its Upper Cook Inlet Finfish regulatory meeting January 17-29, 2005.

The subject matter for the Soldotna hearing is limited to Upper Cook Inlet finfish proposals contained in the 2004/2005 proposal book which can be found online at: http://www.boards.adfg.state.ak.us/fishinfo/meetinfo/fprop.php

Written and oral testimony will be taken at the Soldotna hearing. An opportunity to sign up for oral testimony will be provided when the hearing begins. For those who cannot attend the hearing and wish to provide written testimony, please mail comments to: Alaska Board of Fisheries, P.O. Box 25526, Juneau, AK 99802-5526; or fax them to the Boards Support Section at 907-465-6094.

The hearing in Soldotna is open to the public. Participation in the hearing does not preclude participation at the Anchorage regulatory meeting. No regulatory action will be taken at the Soldotna hearing. Regulatory action will be taken at the Upper Cook Inlet Finfish regulatory meeting in Anchorage following the Soldotna hearing. A written report of the Soldotna hearing will be provided to the full Board.
