Delaware’s Iraqi War Vets Offered Free State Park Passes,
Hunting and Fishing Licenses
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control today
announced it is offering free one-year state park passes and fishing and
hunting licenses to Delaware’s Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring
Freedom veterans.
HB 326, which was initiated by the General Assembly and passed in June,
authorizes the Division of Parks and Recreation and the Division of Fish and
Wildlife to issue, respectively, a free annual park pass, hunting license
and/or fishing license to any resident who served in Iraq for at least 90
consecutive days and has been honorably discharged.
“The men and women in our armed forces have made tremendous sacrifices,
risking their lives while being separated from their families,” said
Secretary John A. Hughes. “DNREC is pleased to help the General Assembly
express the State’s gratitude for their service by offering them some
much-needed relaxation and enjoyment.”
Veterans interested in taking advantage of the offer can contact the
Division of Parks and Recreation’s Office of Business Services at
302-739-4702 or the Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Coordination Section at
302-739-5296.
