TWO RIVERS SRA TROUT LAKE STOCKED WITH 3,000 RAINBOWS - Tom Keith

Lincoln, Neb. -- If the warm fall days make you wish you were out fishing, theres still time to enjoy some trout fishing at popular Two Rivers State Recreation Area (SRA) near Venice.

The Game and Parks Commission stocked approximately 3,000 rainbow trout in the lake September 28. That was the final stocking of the season before the trout lake closes to fishing October 15.

The trout lake is open from 7 a.m. to sunset each day. An angler must purchase a $4 trout tag from the Two Rivers SRA office which allows them to take four trout. An angler may purchase a maximum of three tags each day and may have up to 12 trout in possession. Those possessing trout on any other lake at Two Rivers SRA must have a trout tag as well. Anglers are asked to return their tag to the office at the end of their fishing day, as the information collected from each tag is critical in helping fisheries biologists determine catch rates and stocking rates.

This year an adult angler is allowed to have two children under the age of 16 fish under their tag, but the group bag limit is limited to four trout per tag. Each angler is allowed to use two fishing poles. Catch and release fishing is not allowed at the Two Rivers SRA trout lake.

Two Rivers SRA trout anglers 16 years and older must possess a valid Nebraska fishing license and those 18 years and older must also have a current Aquatic Habitat Stamp. Veterans 65 years and older and residents 70 and older who have a fee-exempt permit, and individuals who have lifetime permits are exempt from the Aquatic Habitat Stamp requirement. All vehicles entering the area are required to have a valid Park Entry Permit.
