CITGO Bassmaster Tour Pro Marty Stone to Appear  At National Hunting and Fishing Days Celebration September 25-26 at Stonewall Jackson Lake State Park

CITGO Bassmaster pro angler Marty Stone.

 

CITGO Bassmaster fishing pro Marty Stone will be a special guest during the 2004 West Virginia Celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day, to be held at Stonewall Jackson Lake State Park in Lewis County (Interstate 79 exit 91) September 25 and 26.

 

  Stone is one of the best-known and most successful pro anglers in the United States . He will be meeting with the public and sharing his fishing techniques during several appearances at the celebration.

 

  A native of Linden , North Carolina , Stone won his first CITGO Tour event in 1999 on Alabama 's Lake Wheeler . Since then he has finished 11 th in the 2001 CITGO Bassmaster Classic, 18 th in the 2002 CITGO Tour stop on Alabama's Pickwick/Wilson Lake, ninth in the 2003 CITGO Tour stop on Louisana's Lake Ouachita, first in the CITGO Tour event on Florida's Harris Chain of Lakes, and ninth in this year's CITGO Bassmaster Classic held in Charlotte, North Carolina. Overall he has finished in first place twice in the CITGO Tour and has finished in the money 28 times.

 

  “My formal education (at Appalachian State University) put me on the fast track on the business end of the sport,” said Stone. “Fishing accomplishments are important, but giving those accomplishments promotional value is the key to sponsorship and that's where an education has been a huge asset in this business.”

 

  The National Hunting and Fishing Days Celebration is sponsored by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources and the West Virginia Wildlife Federation. More than 100 vendors and exhibits will be available. The public is invited to enjoy archery, youth competition, good food, sport dogs, care and cooking of fish and game, shotgun and black powder shooting, and many more activities and door prizes. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children under age 15, and children 3 and under free. For more information call (304) 558-2771.
