ACCESS TO PUBLIC AREAS REINSTATED September 7, 2004 The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is reinstating all public access to 12 wildlife management areas and wildlife and environmental areas in Northwest Florida following the passage of Hurricane Frances through the state. Hurricane Frances was downgraded to a tropical storm before it entered gulf waters and caused little damage to public lands in the panhandle. Anyone who operates a vehicle on these areas should exercise caution and watch for downed trees or washed out roads. Road hazards can be reported to the FWC at (850) 265-3676. The reopened areas in Northwest Florida are: Wildlife Management Areas
