RELEASE August 23, 2004 FREE FAMILY FUN AT CONSERVATION VILLAGE DURING THE 2004 DUQUOIN STATE FAIR DU QUOIN, ILL. - A wide array of family-oriented activities and entertainment will be featured at Conservation Village during the 2004 DuQuoin State Fair, August 28-September 6, Illinois Department of Natural Resources Director Joel Brunsvold announced today. "Conservation
Village is always a popular stop for visitors to the beautiful Du Quoin
State Fairgrounds," Brunsvold said. "Our exhibits, programs and activities
give visitors an up close look at many of the things the Department does in
protecting our natural resources and providing important outdoor recreation
opportunities." Among the highlights this year at Conservation Village: • The Great Lakes Timber Lumberjack Show and chainsaw carving programs are scheduled for 1 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays, and at noon, 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on weekends and Labor Day. • Casting
clinics for youngsters are featured on the lake next to the RV displays from
• The popular youth archery range provided by T.L.’s Archery, Inc., of Carbondale, will be open to youngsters from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. on weekdays and noon-8 p.m. on weekends and Labor Day. • Retriever dog demonstrations are scheduled on the lake next to the RV displays between noon-8 p.m. on weekends. • The Golconda Job Corps tree climbing and pruning exhibitions are scheduled for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 28-29. ###
