"National Marina Day is an annual celebration of the important role
marinas play in waterfront communities all across America," says Cheri
Swayne, Kansas Wildlife and Parks boating education coordinator. "Each
day, this country's marinas serve as safe, family-friendly gateways
for boaters and provide services to help keep lakes clean. We hope
folks will visit the state's marinas, learn about local marinas, and
enjoy the events they have planned."
Americans need clean, safe, and relaxing leisure-time locations.
National Marina Day reminds the boating community that a marina is a
local, environmentally-friendly destination serving as a gateway for
family and friends to enjoy one of America's great natural resources -
its waterways.
National Marina Day is celebrated in conjunction with the Marina
Operators Association of America in Washington, DC, the national trade
association of the marina industry.
