Outdoor Discovery Camps Spaces
Still Available!
ANNAPOLIS, MD — Spaces remain for the youth residential camp
being offered by the State Forest and Park Service. The Department of
Natural Resources offers tent camping programs for youth girls and boys
ages 8 – 16 years old. The 5-day, 4-night camps are located at various
state parks throughout Maryland.
The camps are unique in that they offer activities which are not only
filled with recreational activities, but also focus on developing
environmental stewardship and Leave No Trace outdoor skills and ethics.
Names and descriptions of the camp follow:
 | Multi-Adventure I camps (ages 8-11) are offered at Tuckahoe
State Park, Susquehanna State Park, Rocky Gap State Park and Point
Lookout State Park, and offers an introduction to various activities
such as horsemanship, rock climbing, ropes course participation and
kayaking. |
 | Multi-Adventure II (ages 10-13) offer horsemanship at
Tuckahoe State Park, kayaking and fishing at Point Lookout State Park
and rock climbing at Rocky Gap State Park. |
 | Multi-Adventure III (ages 11-15) feature fishing and
horsemanship at Tuckahoe State Park, rock climbing, ropes course
participation and rappelling at Rocky Gap State Park. |
 | Travel and Adventure (ages 12-15) will backpack the
Appalachian Trail and tube the Potomac River at Greenbrier State Park,
canoe at Susquehanna State Park, kayaking at Janes Island State Park,
bike and canoe the C&O Canal is based at Rocky Gap State Park, and
backpacking at Green Ridge State Forest. |
 | Extreme Camp (ages 12-16) offers mountain biking, caving and
whitewater rafting based at New Germany State Park. |
All camps will offer swimming, a special conversation project, campfire
program, Scales and Tales program. Cost ranges from $350-500 per week
depending on camp selection (all food and activities are included in
cost). Transportation is also provided in the cost from Sandy Point State
Park, Greenbelt National Park or Patapsco Valley State Park.
